The HUB of your journey is the centrally-located Dempsey Manor in Manistee.
Each year our great Color Show lines the road along the route of Scenic Michigan Highway M-22 and East along M-55 through the Manistee National Forest. From The Dempsey Manor, your HUB, you'll discover miles of forest-covered rolling hills in all directions transforming themselves into a
beautiful canvas of color, texture, and spectacular vistas.
The smooth stretch of Scenic M-22 hugs the sapphire-blue Great Lake Shoreline as it skirts and meanders
through the communities of Onekama, Portage Point, Pierport, Arcadia, Elberta and Frankfort and Empire.
Make a quick jaunt to Sleeping Bear Dunes (voted the most beautiful spot in the USA), then an easy trip back to The Dempsey Manor along Highway 31 through Beulah, Benzonia, Pleasanton, and Bear Lake before crossing the Manistee River for the five short blocks return to The Manor, the center of your travels.
As you enjoy the natural palette of brilliant and subtle colors, what separates our Region from the rest is the diverse set of experiences you can have along the way.
