The Little Angel Room
Perhaps the most delightful fairy-tale Victorian bed chamber in all of Michigan! It is charming and quaint, possessing the only East-facing dormer on the third floor, a lovely floor-plan, two closets, and 240 square feet of living space. You will be enchanted by the treasures it holds. In a large open, backlit 19th century display cupboard once in an historic Chicago mansion, you will discover a brilliant collection of 18th and 19th century antique English tea services, ceramics and bone china. From the estate of Beverly Sills, New York's late internationally acclaimed coloratura soprano, a pair of 1770 Royal Worcester "Queen Charlotte" cups and saucers take center stage among the dazzlingly colorful displays, and serve as a nostalgic reminder of the days when the Dempsey Manor's creator, James Colburn, worked with "Bubbles" at the New York City Opera Company.
In the same cabinet are rare hand-cut crystal glassware, society grande-dames’ bejeweled hatpins, exotic China Trade porcelains for the West, first edition antique books, and a spectacular 18th century Derby orange and silver lustre porcelain tea set.
An 1890s Eastlake desk, outfitted for your private correspondence, finds a perfect spot in front of an eclectic collection of small exotica (Egyptian, English, Chinese, Turkish to Spanish Colonial) set within an interiorly lit 18th century English oak corner cabinet. In another corner of this room discover an arrangement of 18th century Chinese blue and white porcelains on the walls and within an etegere; and a glazed cabinet with rare crystal perfume bottles and 1st Period Worcester vases.
A casual collection of turn-of-the-century leather and alligator luggage draw nostalgic attention to the lace-draped window.
An Early American bedstead creates the perfect atmosphere for other-worldly dreams. Created for your pleasure and enjoyment, the most comfortable down-filled silk covers and finest bed linens complete this room’s fantasy of yesteryear.
A petite private bathroom with a step-in shower is a few steps across the hall.
This cozy bedroom can serve as an optional second bedroom adjacent to THE ANGEL PENTHOUSE SUITE. On occasion, it may also be booked as a second bedroom for other Guest Rooms.
